Chocolate or Vanilla?
Vanilla by itself. Chocolate as an accent.
Halloween or Christmas?
Unfair. Tie. Both are magical in different ways.
Summer or Winter?
Fall, Early Winter. There is just something about dry, crisp air and a really cozy sweater jacket.

Dogs
What does the world need more of?

A Bit About Me
Welcome to K.M. Messina! Thank you for visiting my site.
As someone who tends to be more on the private side, penning an author bio was not a fun task for me. So, I'm going to start mine with a very simple statement: I lead a double life. (Sorry, not the scandalous type—we'll save that material for writers of psychological thrillers.) It's just that by day, I'm an earth science teacher who deals with facts, logic, and observable evidence to explain natural phenomena like the changing phases of the Moon or the formation of the minerals and rocks that comprise our planet. And by night, I get to transform those very things into extraordinary magical entities as I delve into the enchanting realm of storytelling, crafting picture books where Moon fairies deliver jars of happiness sprinkles and glowing gems hold extraordinary powers from their origin on a mythologic paradise called Gemja where all species lived in peace.

I've always had that duality—the ability to think rationally while simultaneously daydreaming about the impossible. To this day, I can't resist the urge to catch a passing dandelion seed and make a wish. I strive to instill that same sense of wonder in my writing by combining fanciful stories with enchanting illustrations, merging science and fantasy—and, whenever I can, dogs. Because really, now. Is there anything more magical than those little butt-wiggling bundles of furry goodness?
When I'm not stopping to meet every dog that comes my way, or adding to my ever-growing collection of stones and sticks, I'm likely covered in paint and glue, crafting unique magical keepsakes. My worktable is lost under dozens of in-progress altered journals, and my fridge is now a drying station for endless gem-encrusted clay moons and owl magnets. There's just something so magical about watching a vision in your mind come to life, and there is no greater reward than when your manifestations bring others joy.

Thank you so much for your interest and for stopping by the site. Creating magical and inspiring stories and art is my passion—well, that and dogs, of course. :)
Have a day filled with awe and wonder.
